Starfighter F-104 Suborbital Training

Now it's your time to take the first step: Train for your spaceflight, like the astronauts do since the days of Mercury, Gemini and Apollo! Graduate from the intensive flight training in the Kennedy Space Center, and take the unique opportunity to start in the legendary Starfighter-astronaut's trainer to the direction of space. The whole 3-day training program (plus one backup day 4) is 'NASA approved', means you have to meet the same requirements as all the other astronauts who fly with the shuttle or will travel in future with the ARES into space. If you have successfully graduated from this program, you are perfectly prepared for your spaceflight. Start right now to get ready for your suborbital flight, and become one of the first civilians riding in the legendary F-104 'Astronaut Maker'. In the ejection seat training and in the barochamber, in the knowledge test and in the cockpit of the F-104 you will prove that you have the skills for your personal venture into the universe!

Space shuttle tries again to launch

NASA will give the launch of the space shuttle Endeavour another try Monday, after having been repeatedly thwarted by the weather and technical malfunctions. VISIT: www.pop-videos.com FOR MORE INFO Monday's attempt is scheduled for 6:51 pm Weather forced the cancellation of launch attempts Saturday and Sunday. And last month, two launch attempts were scrubbed because of a hydrogen leak. On Sunday, lightning and cumulus clouds violated guidelines in case of an emergency landing and sent astronauts back to their quarters for the night. Cumulus clouds are tied to volatile weather such as lightning and tornadoes. On Friday, 11 lightning strikes hit within a half-mile of the launch pad, scratching Saturday's launch. Endeavour, carrying seven astronauts and a key component for Japan's Kibo science laboratory, is to head to the International Space Station for a 16-day mission. Five spacewalks are planned for the crew after the shuttle docks. The Kibo science lab, also called the Japanese Experiment Module, is Japan's first human space facility, and has been more than 20 years in the making.

discovery of the hate to thediscovery...

records of 4-5 pm moscow time,20th.,april- iran fights for documentary rape threatener steals not to send- block access- nn-547-546 usually using durign strong quake s-see against me to shut up-like l/aquilla-= With a smooth touchdown and a safe parachute deployment, Discovery and its seven astronauts landed at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida at 9:08 am, where clear skies rather than ground fog greeted the astronaut crew. The shuttle flew 6232235 miles in 238 orbits around the Earth before landing safely in Florida. It was the 129th safe landing for the craft. Discovery took take a more westerly approach in its descent, bringing the shuttle over Vancouver, British Columbia, and down over Helena, Mont., Wyoming, southwestern Nebraska, northeastern Colorado, southwestern Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and Florida just east of Gainesville. It was the first time since 2007 that a space shuttle has descended over so much of the United States. The ship's descent was 20 times steeper than that of a commercial plane landing. "Sounds like a great ground track," Discovery's commander, Alan Poindexter, had radioed back to ground control. NASA typically prefers bringing a shuttle home from the southwest. That way, there's minimal flying over heavily populated areas. In 2003, space shuttle Columbia shattered over Texas during re-entry, but no one on the ground was injured by the falling wreckage. NASA also prefers to end a shuttle flight at its home base ...

sts 40 Launch, Columbia (June 5, 1991)

STS 40 Mission: Spacelab Life Sciences-1 Space Shuttle: Columbia Launch Pad: 39B Launch Weight: 251970 pounds Launched: June 5, 1991, 9:24:51 am EDT Landing Site: Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Landing: June 14, 1991, 8:39:11 am PDT Landing Weight: 226535 pounds Runway: 22 Rollout Distance: 9403 feet Rollout Time: 55 seconds Revolution: 146 Mission Duration: 9 days, 2 hours, 14 minutes, 20 seconds Returned to KSC: June 21, 1991 Orbit Altitude: 157 nautical miles Orbit Inclination: 39 degrees Miles Traveled: 3.8 million The launch was originally set for May 22, 1991. The mission was postponed less than 48 hours before launch when it became known that a leaking liquid hydrogen transducer in the orbiter main propulsion system, which was removed and replaced during leak testing in 1990, had failed an analysis by the vendor. Engineers feared that one or more of the nine liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen transducers protruding into fuel and oxidizer lines could break off and be ingested by the engine turbopumps, causing engine failure. In addition, one of the orbiter five general purpose computers failed completely, along with one of the multiplexer demultiplexers that control orbiter hydraulics ordinance and orbiter maneuvering system/reaction control system functions in the aft compartment. A new general purpose computer and multiplexer demultiplexer were installed and tested. One liquid hydrogen and two liquid oxygen transducers were replaced upstream in the propellant flow ...

STS-128 Discovery Blast Off celebrating Silver Anniversary (HD)

August 28, 2009 - Kennedy Space Center. Space shuttle Discovery, with its seven-member crew, launched at 11:59 pm EDT Friday from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. The shuttle will deliver supplies, equipment and a new crew member to the International Space Station. Inside the shuttle's cargo bay is the Leonardo Multi-Purpose Logistics Module, a pressurized "moving van" that will be temporarily installed to the station. The module will deliver storage racks; materials and fluids science racks; a freezer to store research samples; a new sleeping compartment; an air purification system; and a treadmill named after comedian Stephen Colbert. The name "Colbert" received the most entries in NASA's online poll to name the station's Node 3. NASA named the node Tranquility. Shortly before liftoff, Commander Rick Sturckow said, "Thanks to everyone who helped prepare for this mission. Lets go step up the science on the International Space Station!" The 13-day flight will include three spacewalks to replace experiments outside the European Space Agency's Columbus laboratory, install a new ammonia storage tank and return the used one. Ammonia is needed to move excess heat from inside the station to the radiators located outside. Sturckow is joined on the STS-128 mission by Pilot Kevin Ford, Mission Specialists Pat Forrester, Jose Hernandez, Danny Olivas and European Space Agency astronaut Christer Fuglesang. NASA astronaut Nicole Stott will fly to the complex aboard Discovery to ...

STS-125 Astronauts photography Kennedy Space Center

An almost nadir view of the John F. Kennedy Space Center (KSC) was provided by one of the STS-125 crewmembers on the Earth-orbiting Space Shuttle Atlantis. KSC is the NASA space vehicle launch facility and launch control center (spaceport) on Merritt Island, Brevard County, Florida. The site is near Cape Canaveral, between Miami and Jacksonville. It is 34 miles (55 kilometers) long and around 6 miles (10 kilometers) wide, covering 219 square miles (567 square kilometers). Because much of KSC is a restricted area and only 9 percent of the land is developed, the site also serves as an important wildlife sanctuary; Mosquito Lagoon, Indian River, Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and Canaveral National Seashore are also features of this area. Pictured just below center is Launch Complex 39, with the roadway leading to the giant Vehicle Assembly Building (VAB), 3 miles (5 kilometers) to the west (above) of the two launch pads. Located 5 miles (8 kilometers) south is the KSC industrial area, where many of the Center's support facilities and the administrative Headquarters Building are located. The Shuttle Landing Facility can be seen northwest of the VAB, in frame center.

STS-1 Part One Hi Def Version

This is the story of the first Space Shuttle Flight. Two men board a virtually untested spacecraft and blaze a path for future generations of astronauts to follow. Part one starts off at the moon and gives us a brief synopsis of why NASA had to build the Space Shuttle rather than continue using disposable rockets. We then witness the launch of Space Shuttle Columbia and follow it on its first orbit around the Earth. This is the High Definition Version which will eventually replace the low definition version of this film.
